Graffiti Vocabulary

Overview:

Graffiti Vocabulary is a strategy the increases student’s understanding of words and concepts through art images. The students first define vocabulary in their own words, then create visual images to depict the words.

Strategy Procedure:

There is a criteria to follow when drawing the visual images. The vocabulary words must be drawn using bubble letters and designs. The students must draw the pictures for each term based on their own words. They must have three drawings to represent each term. There should be no white spaces on the poster. The entire poster should have color.

Reflection:

This is a strategy that may reach a lot of students, not because they understand the vocabulary, but because they have a passion for art. This is a good way to incorporate student’s interest to make them want to learn.
